This year again, designers and watchmakers have pulled out all the stops to create sophisticated chronographs embodying their concentrated engineering and horological competence in every detail.
Omega Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon” Apollo 8
Fifty years after the Apollo 8 mission, Omega presented the newest version of the “Dark Side of the Moon” at Baselworld 2018. As well as having a skeletonised dial, this collectable chronograph is remarkable for its specially decorated version of the famous Moonwatch Calibre 1861.
Chopard Mille Miglia Racing Colours
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand’s partnership with the Italian vintage car race, Chopard added five new chronographs to the famous Mille Miglia Collection – all in a slew of bold colours. The limited-edition watches channel the bright 1930’s colours assigned to each of the five national teams this year.

With a bright red ceramic case, a first in the industry, this Swiss luxury manufacture underscores its unique expertise in the field of materials research. This stateof-the-art flyback chronograph is powered by Hublot’s genuine manufacture Calibre Unico HUB1242, which uses both a column wheel and a double clutch.
TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02
On the occasion of its 55th birthday, the legendary chronograph gears up with a new automatic manufacture movement. The skeleton dial reveals the Heuer 02 Calibre, including a column wheel and a vertical clutch. The automatic movement oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz and amasses an 80-hour power reserve stored in a single barrel.
Breitling Navitimer 8 Chronograph
The Swiss watch manufacture introduced a new collection of pilot’s watches: the Navitimer 8. The number “8” in the name refers to the “Huit Aviation Department”, which was organized in 1938 to manufacture cockpit instruments and classic pilot’s watches for civilian and military purposes. Willy Breitling chose the name “Huit”, i.e. the French word for “eight”, to allude to the eightday power reserve of his famous cockpit instruments.

This new stainless-steel version of the classic Senator Chronograph Panorama Date catches the eye with its high-contrast elegance and contemporary design. It is powered by the German manufacture’s in-house column wheel-chronograph movement, Calibre 37, which amasses a power reserve of 70 hours and offers a flyback function.
