In April, 2014, Fukui Shell Nucleus Factory began cultivating the first batch of new generation pearls using the Metakaku technology which imparts a unique identity to each pearl. In March, 2015, we debuted with a live demonstration of the technology application to the industry players. The Global Pearl Database is established for the pearl information storage, track-and-traceability and authentication record. Each pearl has a serialized electronic product code assigned by the GS1, an international non-profit organization that is responsible for governing the adoption of the supply chain standards. When combining the advanced information technology to traditional pearl cultivation, each pearl is ready to tell the story behind.
